The School of Civil Engineering is located at the foot of the scenic Lishan Mountain, adjacent to the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum. It enjoys a beautiful and elegant environment and convenient traffic. There are seven majors: railway engineering technology, high-speed railway engineering technology, urban rail transit engineering technology, construction engineering technology, engineering cost, engineering measurement technology, photogrammetry and remote sensing technology. Among them, the railway engineering technology is the construction project for “Improving the Development Ability of Professional Service Industry in Higher Vocational Schools” (professional construction project with the central financial support) of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance, key higher vocational education specialty of Shaanxi Province, the key major construction project of the action plan for innovation and development of higher vocational education, and the “first-class specialty” construction project in Shaanxi Province; and the engineering measurement technology is a specialty with key support from Xi’an City.
Lintong Campus has a strong faculty. There are 84 faculty members and 52 full-time teachers, including 3 professors, 18 associate professors and senior engineers and 27 lecturers. Among the teachers, 47 have received or are receiving postgraduate education, and 42 are double-position teachers. In recent years, the teachers have been awarded one national first prize in all kinds of teaching competitions, four first prizes at provincial level, and 14 Institute-level first prizes. They have completed 30 scientific research projects at provincial, municipal and Institute levels, published more than 40 national and provincial planning textbooks. The teachers have published 322 papers in various publications, among which 57 articles are included in Chinese-language core journals and 5 in EI and SCI. The School has obtained 2 national key invention patents and completed 5 Institute-level quality resource sharing courses.
Lintong Campus has perfect teaching, experimental and training facilities. It has provincial training base---Ballastless track fine adjustment and testing training base, the School-enterprise co-building engineering survey production training base and railway engineering technology professional innovation and entrepreneurship project classroom as well as more than 20 training rooms such as railway bridges, railway switches, rail flaw detection, sand table of engineering projects, construction drawing recognition and drawing, more than 30 multimedia classrooms and more than 10 off-campus practical training bases, laying a solid foundation for training high-quality technical and skilled personnel.
Lintong Campus attaches importance to cultivating students' ability in practice and innovation. It has built the students’ professional skill team of fine technology and strong ability through participating in various kinds of skill competitions of national and provincial level. In recent years, the students have participated in many skill competitions such as engineering surveying, architectural engineering mapping, high-speed railway fine tuning, BIM software modeling, civil engineering material testing, civil engineering testing, application of building information model technology, virtual construction of prefabricated concrete buildings, mathematics modeling, and oral English, winning 4 first prizes, 1 second prize and 4 third prizes on the national level, 23 first prizes, 21 second prizes and 5 third prizes of provincial and ministerial. For 4 consecutive years, the School has won the first prizes in the national higher vocational college skill contest engineering survey competition.
Over the years, Lintong Campus has maintained a size of about 1,600 students and the employment rate has remained at over 96%. It has provided a large number of construction, maintenance and management personnel for the construction of the national railway and urban rail transit system. More than 4,000 graduates have become the technical and management backbone of railway, engineering, local railway and urban subway companies.
At the same time, Lintong Campus is also the cadre education and training base of Xi’an City, the training and coordination base of China Railway Corporation, the cadre training base of Xi’an and Zhengzhou Railway Bureaus, and the education information training base of Shaanxi Province. For a long time, the Campus has been based on the advantages of the industry and served regional development. It has undertaken various training courses for provincial, municipal, district and county functional departments, development zones and local railway bureaus for many times, making positive contributions to Xi’an economic and social development and the city’s cadre education and training.
